Install WordPress Step by Step Instructions

  • Log into cPanel
  • Scroll down to Softaculous Apps Installer at the bottom of the page
  • Click WordPress in the Scripts list

Install WordPress

Install WordPress

You'll be taken to the WordPress installer page inside of Softaculous. Click on the Install Now button to begin the process.

Choose Protocol: http:// or http://www. if you prefer to have www. in the domain. This can be changed inside of WordPress later down the road.
Choose Domain: Choose the domain you wish to install WordPress on.
In Directory: Leave blank if you wish to access your site at yourdomain.com.

Install WordPress

You can leave the Site Name and Site Description in the Site Settings section as it is. This can also be changed inside of your WordPress dashboard at a later date once you have WordPress installed on your domain.

Install WordPress

Under the Admin Account section you'll want to choose your Admin Username and Admin Password. We highly recommend you change the username from admin to something custom you wish to have. Keeping your username as admin present a security risk to your site.

Install WordPress

Lastly, if you have many WordPress installations or other databases you may want to change the Database Name to something easily identifiable. If you're not sure, it's better to keep the pre-filled text inside of both the Database Name and Database Prefix field boxes.

You can choose to Disable Update Notifications or keep those on (personal preference). We suggest that you check the boxes for Auto Upgrade WordPress Plugins and Auto Upgrade WordPress Themes. This will help keep your site up to date and less vulnerable to attacks down the road.

Install WordPress

Once you've filled out all of your settings you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Install Now button. After you've clicked the Install Now button, Softaculous will go to work and install WordPress on the domain name you chose to have WordPress installed on. When the installer is completed you'll be able to log into your WordPress dashboard and begin building your site and creating content.
