How to Add a Featured Image to a Post

Set a featured image on your WordPress blog post by following this tutorial. For many WordPress themes when a featured image is added to a post that image is displayed at the top of the blog post. The featured image is also used in areas of the theme where thumbnails are needed to display the post (e.g., the sidebar with a preview thumbnail for the post).

How to Add a Featured Image to a WordPress Post (Video)

To set a featured image on your post you'll want to follow these instructions:

Log into your wp-admin yourdomain.com/wp-admin or yourdomain.com/wp-login.php (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain)
Navigate to Posts > All Posts > Edit or Add New post
Click Set Featured Image in the right sidebar
Select your image from your computer
Insert the Title, Caption, Alt Text, and Description for the image
Click the Set Featured Image button (bottom right)
