How to Clear Your Browser's Cache

Each time you visit a website, certain portions of that site are cached so that the next time you visit the site everything loads much quicker.

This can be a problem when you’re trying to setup and develop your website preventing you from seeing changes right away. Below, we’ve outlined how to clear your browser's cache so you can see changes that you’ve made to your site that may have been cached.

Google Chrome

  • Open Chrome and click the 3 vertical dots (upper right).
  • Click Settings in the drop down menu.
  • Expand the Settings page by clicking Advanced at the bottom.
  • Click Clear browsing data in the Privacy and security section (last option).
  • Check Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files and hit the Clear Data button.
Mozilla Firefox
  • Open Firefox and click the hamburger icon (upper right).
  • Click the Privacy & Security link in the left navigation bar.
  • Click the link for Clear alll current history (a popup will appear).
  • Check Cookies and Cache and hit the Clear Now button.
Internet Explorer
  • Open Internet Explorer and click Tools.
  • Click the Internet Options from the drop down menu.
  • Navigate to the General tab next to Browsing History.
  • Click Delete (a new window will open).
  • Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files section.
Safari
  • Open Safari and click Safari in the top menu bar.
  • Click Preferences from the drop down menu.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Check the option for Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  • Click Develop > Empty Cache in the top menu bar.
Opera
  • Open Opera and click the Menu tab (upper left).
  • Click Settings from the drop down menu.
  • Click the Privacy & Security link in the left navigation bar.
  • Click the Clear browsing data... button (a popup will appear).
  • Check Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data and click the Clear browsing data button.
