How to connect remotely to your MySQL database

You can connect remotely to you MySQL database on our Linux hosting plan by following this simple tutorial. This feature allows remote hosts including yourself to access MySQL® databases on your account.

NOTE: Before you begin, you'll want to make sure the database has been created and you've added a database user with the appropriate permissions in your control panel (cPanel). You'll also need to submit a ticket and let us know which IP address you'll be connecting from.

Login to your cPanel control panel. You can obtain this information from the account welcome email that we sent you when you setup your account. If you don't have the email, you can login to your billing account and click on email history to review copies of the emails we sent you. Typically, you can login using the following pattern: https://yourdomain.com:2083/ or https://SERVER.peopleshostshared.com:2083/

Once logged in, under the Databases sub-heading, click on the Remote MySQL icon as show below.

Next, enter your IP address in the Add Access Host text box. You can get your IP by doing a Google search for "what is my IP".

Finally, you should be able to connect to your database using 3rd party tools such as Navicat, HeidiSQL or phpMyAdmin. You will need the following details to connect.

- Server Hostname or IP address
- Database Name
- Database User
- Database Password
