In this article, we will show you how to download and install OpenVPN GUI so you can connect securely to your server at PeoplesHost.
IMPORTANT: You must contact support prior to following these instructions so we can set up your VPN account for secure access and configure your server.
PLEASE NOTE: This services primary role is to allow our customers that do not have a static IP address to securely connect to their servers from a fixed secure and encrypted point. The VPN service will only push traffic for our internal IP ranges and will route all other traffic normally through your connection.
1) Download and install OpenVPN GUI on your Windows PC. You can download the latest version of OpenVPN GUI from the following URL - https://build.openvpn.net/downloads/releases/
NOTE: As of the time of this writing, openvpn-install-2.4.6-I601.exe is the latest GUI version.
2) Once installed and running on your PC. Right click on the OpenGUI task tray icon and click Import File. Point the file browser to the OVPN file that was provided by our support team.
3) Download and install Google Authenticator on your iPhone or Android phone from the applicable app store.

4) Our support team will provide you with your username/password, and a QR code that you scan with your Google Authenticator app on your phone.
5) Right click on the OpenVPN task tray icon and highlight your VPN servers hostname (i.e. vpn-sfo1-03-pub.peopleshost.com) and hit connect.
6) A username/password box will come up asking for your username/password. Enter those details along with the code from the Google Authenticator application on your phone.
Once your connected, you should have access to your servers remote desktop or SSH access.
