Alternatives to Temporary URLs
Using a temporary URL to preview a site before it goes live or updating the DNS (nameservers) was a popular technique for many years. However, we now highly recommend alternative methods:
1. Updating Your Hosts File
Editing your hosts file allows you to preview your site on your local machine without changing the DNS settings. We have created knowledge base articles to guide you through this process:

2. Using a Subdomain or Existing Domain
You can use a subdomain or a domain that you already own as a temporary URL to preview your site. This method allows you to set up a staging environment on a subdomain (e.g., staging.yourdomain.com) or another domain you own. If you need assistance setting this up, please don't hesitate to contact support.
3. Using a Dedicated IP for Site Previews
If you need to show a preview of a site to a client or someone else, we offer Dedicated IPs for an additional $2/month. This allows you to access the site via a "temporary" URL using the Dedicated IP address.
