Temporary URLs have been disabled on our Linux servers for security measures. We take security very seriously and have determined this was the best decision to protect our customers from cybercriminals such as phisers and other types of abuse or attacks.
Using a Temporary URL to preview a site before launching "going live" or updating the DNS (nameservers) was a popular technique used for many years. We highly recommend the alternative; updating your computer's hosts file.
We have created knowledgebase articles for both Windows and Mac users:
Windows: https://my.peopleshost.com/knowledgebase/55/How-to-Edit-Your-Hosts-File-Windows.html
Mac: https://my.peopleshost.com/knowledgebase/130/How-to-Edit-Your-Hosts-File-Mac.html
Alternatively, if you have a client or someone you need to show a preview of their site too, we offer Dedicated IPs for an additional $2/mo. This would allow you to access the site on a "temporary" URL via that Dedicated IP address. To order a Dedicated IP address please contact support or submit a ticket.
This is just for our Linux hosting plans. Windows ASP.NET hosting plans still have a temporary URL in which they can preview the site before going live.
